One of the latest darknet markets that accepted monero (XMR) as their payment modes have announced their retirement. The dark web market is none other than White House Market (WHM). As soon as the White House Market plans retirement and the news went live, there has been chaos all over the darknet sphere and there have been a lot of discussions on the Dread forum.
As the White House Market plans retirement, the admin of the market, Mr White had announced on its sub-dread that they have reached their goals and soon they will bring the dark web market to a cease. Furthermore, the admins have announced that they have ceased the registration and the orders while the darknet marketplace is still online.
The Dark Market after being seized, White House Market became the second largest market following Russian behemoth Hydra Market. Being a Monero only DNM, it accepted only monero as a payment method on the market platform.
That being said, White House Market and Archetyp market were the two monero only marketplaces. The admins of the WHM has stated that as White House Market plans retirement voluntarily, there might be a rise in another WH market but that should be considered as a knock-off or phony site to be trusted upon.
“We have reached our goal and now, according to plan, it’s time for us to retire,” the WH admins detailed in an announcement posted to the DNM forum Dread.
“Effective immediately user registration and ordering have been disabled, everything else (yes, withdrawals included) is working as usual. We will keep the market online for a limited time until open orders are finalized, disputes handled and coins withdrawn. We don’t know how long that will take but don’t expect to come back 6 months from now and find the market up,” the WH team member’s farewell letter noted.
The WHM retirement letter further adds:
“All market rules are still in effect so users should not try to take advantage of the situation and scam, the feedback system is still working and will be shared with Recon and other markets. Because this week’s featured listings and stickies won’t generate any revenue, vendors who paid for them will be refunded via their market wallet. Vendors can now advertise the markets where they operate on their vendor profiles however direct contacts are still disallowed.”
Apparently, 11 other darknet markets accept monero as their payment modes. Lately, the researcher as well as the official twitter handle of dark.fail via an anonymous journalist had alerted the public that White House Market plans retirement.
“ALERT: White House Market is retiring. New orders and registrations are disabled. The site remains online. There is no indication of an exit scam or compromise”.
This means that the users can use the Archetyp market if they wish to carry out their transactions in monero. However, other options that offer monero transactions aside Bitcoin (BTC) transactions include Versus Market, Cannazon, Tor 2 Door, Cypher Market, and Revolution Markets respectively. It has also been noted that admins of Monopoly Market, Dark0de Market, ASAP Market, World Market, Cartel Marketplace, and Liberty Market have forced their vendors to accept Monero as a mode of their digital currency payments.
